5 new Anime to look out for in Summer 2023 which aren't sequels of an Ongoing series

Summer 2023 is jam-packed with some amazing anime to come out. Besides the abundance of sequels of renowned series, there are some new Anime lined up to come out. You don’t need to be caught up with the previous seasons or any prequels to enjoy these anime. Here are 5 new Anime to look out for in Summer 2023 which aren’t sequels of an ongoing series:

1. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

It’s a zombie story but not with the feeling of doom that is common in the genre. This story gives a fresh perspective to the age-old situation. Our main character, Akira Tendou, is a slave of the corporate world and dreads going to work. A sudden zombie apocalypse is his ticket to freedom. And it happens!

The anime is getting adapted by Bug Films. The art style looks vibrant and positive which makes it intriguing as the setting of the anime is around a zombie apocalypse, usually a dark and gory theme.

2. Liar Liar

The light novel with over 12 volumes is a mix of comedy and your good old high school romance and is set to come out as an anime. Setting the story apart with lies, it is filled with bluffs and mind games. We might see some resemblance to the anime Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, considering the mind games.

Despite that, the anime seems promising and fun with Studio Geek Toys at the helm for production animation.

3. Dark Gathering

Dark Gathering is about a college student who has the ability to attract spirits but hates it because of an accident in the past. The incident affects him greatly to become a shut-in. After 2 years, he tries to get back to a normal lifestyle when he meets someone who has similar abilities as him.

Will he be able to lead a normal life or will he keep getting caught up with the supernatural business? The anime is getting adapted by Studio OLM and will come out in July 2023.

At first glance, the anime reminds us of Uzaki Chan. The manga with over 6 volumes is getting adapted into an anime by Studio Project No. 9. The anime is a romantic comedy set up in an office environment. The story revolves around coworkers Takuma Shinozaki and Shiori Katase.

The main characters are voiced by Hina Tachibana and Yuuki Shin. Yuuki Shin also voiced Takemichi Hanagaki from Tokyo Revengers. With the release of the teaser visual and teaser trailer, the anime is getting ready for the summer release of 2023.

5. Rurouni Kenshin

There’ll be a remake of the famous 1996 historical fiction anime series coming out this summer. The 1996 anime covered the manga up to the Kyoto arc and the Tokyo arc, as for the Jinchu arc there are anime original scenes along with some fillers. There were discrepancies around the end which can be cleared away if the reboot remains faithful to the manga.

Similar to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Fruits Basket (2019), the Rurouni Kenshin is a remake of the original story in the manga. The art looks promising and the fans are hyped for the reboot.

Being a reboot makes it the second adaptation of the manga series. This time around, Liden Films will be taking charge of the animation.
