Call of the Night is a series by Mangak Japanese mangaka Kotoyama. It was serialized into an anime that began airing on July 8, 2022, and finished on September 30, 2022. It follows the story of Kou Yamori who desperately wishes to be bitten by Nazuna Nanakusa for him to turn into a vampire.

Anko Uguisu or Kyouko Mejiro is a private detective who befriended Nazuna in high school and discovered her heritage as a vampire. She has an apparent hatred for vampires and is determined to wipe them out.

Anko Uguisu lost her father and her mother to a vampire incident. The blood was spilt through her hands as she had to murder her own beloved father.

This made her despise their existence and be forced into a profession that would wipe out their entire existence. She shows no empathy while hurting vampires and as we explore that side of hers we find it to be highly sadistic and psychotic.

Anko is a deeply scarred woman who tries to find a way out of her misery by attempting to wipe out the very source of it. She believes that by killing vampires she would be able to move on from her tragedy and in that sense she becomes a deeply sadistic killer who finds nothing more satisfying than a hatred against vampires.

Does Anko Uguisu ever stop killing vampires?

Towards the end, Anko Uguisu was a woman who gave up on her grudge against the vampires. She tried to adjust to a life without killing and bloodshed but it was tough for her to get used to a normal adult world with mundane relationships and life choices.

Although she stopped killing vampires, she remains highly determined to kill Kiku Hoshimi and also help Kou.

Anko gives up on the idea of revenge but it doesn’t help her overcome the trauma from the past. She is left scarred due to her frustrations and longings and constantly tries to find solace in her new life, which is desperately clings to but eventually fails to do so.

Anko Uguisu is a woman who had no other motivation in life other than killing vampires. When she gave up on that, she lost all purpose to even exist further and deal with the affairs of life anymore.
