In the world of both Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer, if Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji were to face each other, the entire verse would undergo a tectonic shift with the outcome of the battle becoming a major deciding factor in ranking both verses.
Maki is a Cursed Tool User in Jujutsu Kaisen, while Mitsuri is the Love Hashira in Demon Slayer, but a battle between the two remains a major question of curiosity as their pasts and their lives are similar in a larger worldview.
Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji – a look into their past
Maki Zenin in Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the strongest fighters and Cursed Tool users. Coming from the Zenin family, she is born with a lot of privileges, but due to her Heavenly Restriction similar to Toji Fushiguro, she is unable to use any form of Cursed Energy in exchange for superhuman abilities.
- Maki has been shunned by her clan all of her life, and her sister Mai eventually despised her for abandoning their sisterhood and leaving the latter to her own fate.
- Maki’s troubling childhood and her eventual struggles in establishing herself as an able sorcerer have been nothing short of an excruciating and harrowing experience.
Mitsuri Kanroji was born during the Meiji Period in Japan and was a very unique child.
- From early childhood, she had strong bones and muscle composition, which required her to have a humongous diet, basically exceeding the quantity that even a group of people would normally eat, and had a unique hair color to top the charm.
- Mitsuri became obsessed with the idea of love that she desperately wanted to get married, fearing that she might lose out on her young years of being in love.
The Love Hashira’s repressed emotions of love become her major source of power in the Demon Slayer franchise.
How are Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji different yet similar?
Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji are born out of different circumstances and their roles in their respective verses are very different in nature. However, their indifference is also a result of their similar motivations, as both of the characters have been conditioned under harsh confrontations with life.
The average behavioral patterns of both of these characters are different, yet they bring to the table an experience that seems to guide their companions and comrades. Their truths are entirely different, yet their beliefs are somehow rooted in a desire for the self – whether to find love or to take over the Zenin clan.
Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji therefore become very suitable contenders for each other.
- While neither is a villain here, a duel would definitely answer the question as to who is the stronger among the two.
- The main purpose of this duel would be therefore to answer the most pertinent question – ‘Which verse is stronger between Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer?’
And what would be a better way to answer that question than having a contest between two of the most unique characters of both verses who do not hold anything to gain or lose from the narrative?
Who would win if Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji were to face each other in a battle of wits and power?
In a battle between Maki and Mitsuri Kanroji, Mitsuri Kanroji holds the upper hand due to her abilities as a Hashira. Moreover, she is a stronger swordfighter and her breathing techniques would prove to have an upper hand over Maki’s inability to use the cursed technique.
Mitsuri is also physically stronger than Maki and her movements are more fluid and sophisticated, making her an extremely unpredictable fighter during battle.
However, Maki has a chance at winning the battle if she manages to harness some form of powerful cursed energy which she has currently been unable to. Her movements and her strength are nearly at par with her contender, but her abilities have a lot of scope to develop before she faces an able swordsman.
Maki, however, is more strategic and tactical when it comes to battle and she can harness her cursed energy to manifest unexpected and unforeseen moves during battle. But given Mitsuri’s blade, unpredictability is already her forte.
Conclusion
We can say that in the context of a Maki vs Mitsuri Kanroji battle, the latter holds the upper hand while the former proves to be in her developing stage. Maki denied being the leader of the Zenin clan and gave it over to Megumi in order to work on her abilities, giving us a notion that she still has a lot to harness and improve before she can actually defeat a Hashira, that too the one with cute cat breathing forms.
