Release Expectations of Kaiju no. 8 Spin-off manga

Shueisha’s Saikyo Jump announced on May 2, 2024, that a new spinoff manga for Kaiju No. 8 is officially underway and will be released in the June 2024 issue of the magazine. This project is lead by Kizuku Watanabe whose primary goal is to focus on the off-duty characters and is set to follow a pattern similar to that of Kentaro Hidano’s spinoff titled Kaiju No. 8: B-Side.

Moreover, the upcoming spinoff titled Kaiju No. 8 Relax is going to be released on June 4, 2024, in Saikyo Jump’s official magazine. The original Kaiju No. 8 manga spinoff will be available for all readers of Saikyo Jump and it is scheduled to continue for quite some time. Given the fact that the second spinoff is still underway, we can expect that the upcoming spinoff will also run for a five to six month period.

Kaiju No. 8 Relax Spin-off adds to Kaiju humor

Amid the idea of a monster set out to kill its own kind, there is also the element of crude humor in the plot. The kind of comedy that Kaiju No. 8 employs is very similar to the likes of other popular shonen. But it is somewhat of a differentiated version when it comes to humor-building from a monster’s perspective. Kafka Hibino, therefore, becomes the perfect host for this humor and he becomes the primary source of the series’ comedy.

However, Kaiju No. 8 Relax manga is set to be focused on the lives of off-duty characters, and pick a place for their belonging in the process. While this is a very crucial task that Watanabe is undertaking, it also will significantly add to the humor and light-hearted comedy of the series. Away from battles and a bloody ground, the series will find a spot for some good old nostalgia.
