Liar Liar has entered this season with a brand new catalogue of waifus that people are rooting for when it comes to the inevitable romance with the main character Shinohara. With that being said, a general consensus that the fandom has reached is that Shinohara is probably going to end up with the Sasara double Rina, but let’s elaborate on why that’s the case.
Liar Liar Waifus is Desired
First, let’s talk about the assortment of potential love interests available in Liar Liar and individually detail why they won’t work as love interests for Shinohara: –
- Shirayuki Himeji – She is a devoted maid and extremely loyal to Shinohara, and both share great chemistry together. But the main issue lies in Shinohara’s attitude towards her, as he treats her as more of a friend or sister rather than actively portraying his interest in her, and this behaviour could easily be discredited as Shinohara not being the typical harem protagonist. It has been shown many times that Shinohara displays active interest in the women that he finds attractive.
- Akizuki Noa – The famously proclaimed game devil, it is pretty clear as to why she and Shinohara will never work together for the sole fact that she is an active antagonist against him. Even though they started off on a slightly positive foot, Noa quickly drops her facade and actively tries to thwart or instigate Shinohara in any way possible while developing a long-lasting resentment against her within him.
- Kagaya Ami – She is an expert hacker from the company tasked to help Shinohara win his games without any issues, and while both do share a humorful chemistry, the age gap and her lack of screen time nips this romance in the bud before it could get any chance to grow.
Liar Liar Rina is on Fire
Shinohara meets Rina on his first day on “Academy Island” while she is still disguising herself as Saionji Sasara using her Unique Red Star of Lies. Even though both of them start off on good terms, hijinx quickly ensues as a series of very conveniently placed accidents makes her think that Shinohara set her up and both end up duelling each other in a game.
Though Shinohara won the game by sheer luck, It has now put both him and Rina in a position where they can’t afford to have him lose due to their personal ambitions and goals.
This friendly rivalry though quickly turns into Rina falling for Shinohara after witnessing his selflessness when it comes to the people around him, and while she won’t openly admit this, her subtle hint drops are slowly catching up to Shinohara who also seems to be slowly returning her feelings, even though it’s in the most oblivious way possible.
Conclusion
Liar Liar is nowhere close to its final episode and there are a lot more characters to be introduced when it comes to both the romantic and rival scenarios, especially the elusive Nanase who is soon to be making her debut. So in considering that, our speculations about Shinohara ending up with Rina may eventually end up to be true but for now we can only wait for what the series has in store for us.
