Nisekoi Sequel: Everything you need to know

Nisekoi

Nisekoi is undoubtedly one of the best rom-com stories in manga which was later adapted as anime. Nisekoi stood the test of time, and yet, fans have been waiting for the manga to return and the anime to have a second season. Written by Naoshi Koshi, the manga’s last chapter was released somewhat 8 years ago. Now, Nisekoi is set to return with a sequel for the manga, picking up where it left off and starting off as a rejuvenating project!

The fandom was initially torn between Chitoge and Onodera, the two greatest waifu of a leading culture of what is now known as ‘waifu wars’. Indeed, Nisekoi was the first of the many that began the waifu wars. With which best girl will win in the end, becoming a main topic of many Internet subreddits. Spoiler alert for Nisekoi Manga, the one to take the helm was Chitoge, of course. Now years later, it seems the story will bloom between the next generation, the offspring of Chitoge-Raku and Onodera-Someone.

What is Nisekoi all about + what is so special about the plot?

Nisekoi is a story about a boy and a girl who are forced to be in a relationship by their parents who are the yakuza and gangster heirs. To maintain a diplomatic relationship, Raku and Chitoge are made to be in a superficial relationship, which would tie the two families together and reduce conflict.

The fake love story, which they are made to practice, actually ends up in the two characters actually falling in love. The illustration of a love story that is so transactional in nature leads to a relationship that moves above all forms of transactions. Nisekoi is therefore a story that is special in the sense that it moves from nothing and everything materialistic into something which is not motivated by any consumerist ideas. Situational irony is the major trope of the story.

When will Nisekoi release again?

  • Nisekoi is set to release after 8 years and the story will take off after a 10-year period gap in the plot.
  • Therefore, it is possible that the children of Raku and Chitoge and their families would be the major points of attraction and interrogation.
  • The rom-com would likely shift to a family drama and the manga would thus shape the functional attitude of the not-so-ideal family.

The franchise plans to deliver new reprints across the market in June 2023. Moreover, it is also expected that the franchise would strongly focus on the continuation of the story in these reprints, which are set to release on June 16, 2023.

What will the Nisekoi sequel be about and where will it pick up?

The continuation and narration of the manga will begin after a 10-year gap in the original story. The children and the family of Raku and Chitoge would be the main focus. The original Nisekoi manga would be stretched and extended, and this would result in the story being ‘similarly different’.

  • Nisekoi’s bonus chapter in the original manga was about Haku, the son of Raku and Chitoge and Onodera’s daughter Sasa.
  • The new manga might possibly portray a story between Haku and Sasa, an extension of the Raku and Chitoge plot and a possible reflection of the same.

Conclusion

The manga will have a sequel which would be the growth of a new relationship and a redefinition of the old ones. It would be a plot that would examine the growth of two relationships, each at different stages, and each story with different consequences.
