Fans of the epic apocalyptic fantasy fiction web novel Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and its ongoing webtoon have been eagerly waiting for an update about the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Anime announcement after a tweet back in January 2024.

With the smash hit success of Solo Levelling anime adaptation and its immediate renewal for another season expected to air in the last quarter of 2024. The fans of ORV, including us, are all thinking the same question, can we have an ORV anime?

Although, it’s not looking hopeful for fans awaiting an anime adaptation, as the series is already getting a live-action adaptation expected to release in 2025.  But, with the exceptional success of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint web novel and webtoon, there might still be a chance. The webtoon is free to read on Naver’s website and app.

Unlike ORV’s anime announcement, you can count on the Spiel Anime Newsletter to deliver the promised quality anime and manga content including character analysis, recaps and reviews two times a week. Subscribe now by clicking here.

A tweet by @SugoiLITE revealed that the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint anime, based on Sing Shong’s apocalyptic fantasy webtoon, is under production. Even though the leak came from SugoiLITE, an extremely reputed leaker owing to their successful predictions and leaks, fans should still take this announcement with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.

Although, the leak turned out to be incorrect but the possibility of an ORV anime is not zero. Still fans are disappointed to find that even after five months there hasn’t been any official announcement and no details on the release date, production studio, cast or staff.

Nonetheless, all hope is not lost because ORV is super famous in South Korea (being the unrivalled number 1 web novel), and globally. With its record-breaking success, we can hope to see an anime adaptation sooner than later.

The original web novel Omniscient Readers Viewpoint written by the Korean author duo under the pen name Sing Shong has had a successful journey spanning multiple adaptations garnering praise worldwide.

  • Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint was originally published as a webnovel is divided into 5 volumes. It stands as one of the most popular web novels in South Korea. The series has been officially translated into simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and Thai with hardcover editions well distributed in the market
  • The success of the web novel prompted the release of an ebook and physical books on Munpia and later Naver. The first twelve ebook volumes were released in 2021 and the last volumes appeared in January 2023. Multiple side stories have also been released in both ebook and physical hardcover forms.
  • Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Live Action which is expected to release in 2025. According to Wikipedia Munpia has signed a contract with Realies Pictures to adapt Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint into five feature-length films.
  • Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Webtoon is currently being produced by Redice Studio and published by Naver Webtoon. The webtoon has attained a high level of popularity in Korea as well as abroad. Why An ORV Anime Adaptation is still too difficult?

  • As seen with the recent Solo levelling Anime, the potential Omniscient Reader’s point of view anime might also undergo multiple changes to streamline it for Japanese viewers. This could result in ORV losing its charm, which stems from deep Korean mythology and historical themes.
  • With the first movie of the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Movie expected to be released in 2025, the chances of getting an anime adaption before its premiere are next to none. Even worse, the anime adaptation’s fate might depend on the ORV 2025’s success.
  • The recent controversy surrounding the finalised cast not matching up with the character description has already made fans anxious. If the live-action fails it might end up spelling doom for a potential anime adaptation as well.
  • An anime is most likely to adapt the manhwa, which in turn is an ebook adaptation based on the original webnovel. Although the author only revised some parts of the novel for the ebook, the majority of the fans prefer the web novel over the ebook leading
