Luffy showcased the immense power of Gear 5 during his battle with Kaido in the Wano Country arc. By awakening his Devil Fruit in that arc’s climax, Luffy gained tremendous strength, speed, flexibility, and the ability to manipulate his surroundings like rubber.

- His luminous kicks can easily decimate buildings and incapacitate high-bounty pirates. At Sabaody before the timeskip, Kizaru managed to overwhelm multiple Supernovas like Hawkins, Apoo, Urouge, and Drake with little effort.
- He also fought Silvers Rayleigh to a draw despite Rayleigh’s advanced experience and Haki. While Luffy’s Gear 5 is incredibly powerful, Kizaru has yet to reveal the true extent of his own abilities.
- His past duel with Rayleigh implies he was still holding back, given neither combatant suffered any major injuries back then. He also did not get seriously challenged during the Marineford War.
One Piece 1090: Luffy vs Kizaru
Given his Logia intangibility and lightspeed movements, Kizaru could potentially bypass Luffy’s defenses and land decisive blows even in Gear 5. That said, Luffy in Gear 5 displayed the necessary speed and observation haki to keep up with Kaido’s attacks.
- So he may be able to react to and counter Kizaru’s light-speed combat style. His awakened rubber body could also cushion Kizaru’s laser blasts and light-infused kicks.
- Ultimately, until we see Kizaru pushed to his limits, it is hard to conclusively say whether Luffy could defeat one of the Navy’s most powerful admirals currently.
- Their potential Luffy vs Kizaru battle at Egghead could go either way depending on if Luffy’s Gear 5 provides enough of an edge to overcome Kizaru’s Logia mobility and lasers.
