The new season will span two consecutive cours, likely consisting of 12 episodes each for a total of 24 new episodes. Two special compilation episodes recapping the previous seasons will air on April 3rd and 4th, 2024. These recaps will cover all the major events so far, including the very start of Satoru’s bizarre reincarnation as the slime Rimuru.

  • As for the new Season 3 episodes, in addition to simulcasting on Crunchyroll, the episodes will broadcast on AT-X and Animax in Japan. Based on the first two seasons which offered a SimulDub, Season 3 will likely also receive an English dub that streams as new episodes air.

The first two seasons of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime are currently streaming on Crunchyroll. With Funimation shutting down on April 2nd and merging into Crunchyroll, it seems highly probable that the Funimation dubs will migrate over, meaning Crunchyroll should be the one-stop destination for the entirety of Season 3.

Season 3 will adapt theย Monster-Saint Confrontation Arc

  • While previous seasons focused on Rimuru’s rise to becoming a Demon Lord and the establishment of his utopian monster nation, the new season will adapt material from Volume 7 of the original light novel series in an arc appropriately titled the “Monster-Saint Confrontation.”

After being recognized as a full-fledged Demon Lord at the end of Season 2, Rimuru returns to his home of Tempest intending to throw a celebratory festival welcoming travelers who wish to pay tribute. However, tragedy strikes when a messenger is killed and a forged declaration of war addressed to the Holy Empire of Lubelius is delivered in Rimuru’s name.

This deception is enough to draw the attention of Hinata Sakaguchi, the captain of the Holy Empire’s knights and a fellow Japanese person reincarnated into this world, just like Rimuru. Complicating matters, Hinata was a friend of Shizu, the person responsible for giving Rimuru his humanoid form early on.

With Rimuru having no actual desire to go to war with Hinata or the Holy Empire, he’ll have to get to the bottom of this ruse and uncover the true culprit behind the falsified declaration of war. Otherwise, the Season 3 arc may build toward an epic confrontation pitting former friends Rimuru and Hinata against one another in a battle for the ages.

  • Rimuru’s incredible growth and prosperity since becoming the leader of monsters has put him in a powerful position, but also seems to have made him a target for unseen forces seeking to take him down. Viewers will have to tune in to see if he can defuse this tense situation through diplomacy or if all-out war is inevitable.

The third season of the hit isekai anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is finally arriving on Crunchyroll and other platforms this spring 2024. The new season will adapt the Monster-Saint Confrontation arc from the light novels, which sees Rimuru caught up in a conspiracy after a forged declaration of war draws the attention of the Holy Empire. With a total of 24 new episodes likely split across two cours, Season 3 promises an epic helping of new adventures.

Fans can catch up with recap episodes on April 3rd and 4th before the premiere on April 5th, when new episodes begin releasing weekly. An English dub is expected as well. After years of waiting, slime followers can rejoice that their beloved series is making its hugely anticipated return very soon.
