Satsuriku no Tenshi: Are the characters subpar at best?

Satsuriku no Tenshi Are the characters subpar at best

Satsuriku no Tenshi, or Angels of Death, is an anime that is based on a game that goes by the same name. While there are two sides to the argument, those who were familiar with the game seem to be more disappointed with the characters and the plot than the rest of the viewers. The entire anime is said to be an average rip off and it is no more than just a vague display of invalid arguments and dialogues with little to no suspense or story-building.

Satsuriku no Tenshi- what is the basic premise of the plot?

The plot of the anime revolves around Rachel who is a 13-year-old girl and the bandaged killer with a scythe, Zack. Rachel wakes up in a strange facility and she is bound to fight for her life to escape. However, she is also suicidal and asks Zack to kill her. Zack, on the other hand, is a mass murderer.

Together, Rachel and Zack explore the various floors of the facility and try to escape the building, and that’s how they encounter various opponents which Zack eliminates. Ray has a twisted perception of God and believes that death is salvation. Therefore, the entire story revolves around Rachel wanting to be killed and Zack trying to find a way out for both of them.

How are the two protagonists of Satsuriku no Tenshi?

Rachel Gardner and Zack the Reaper are the two main protagonists of the anime. Both of them are dependent on each other to escape the facility and cross one floor at a time to reach the exit. However, they are entirely flat characters and their dialogues are poorly written. There is almost no sense to what they are talking about and their discussion constantly spirals into a similar loop.

The two main protagonists are entirely independent as well. That being said, it means that they act on their own to complement each other’s actions.

Therefore, we tend to expect that they would grow differently and develop simultaneously. But as far as character development is concerned, they are left as they were introduced and these two protagonists neither evolve nor dissipate into an idea.

Are all characters of Satsuriku no Tenshi subpar at best?

The character of Rachel is bland and emotionless. She neither develops nor reacts to any change. She is only motivated by a desire to die. On the other hand, Zack is pretty obsessed with killing and torturing but he doesn’t develop either. None of them have a suitable tragic backstory and their characters are often abandoned somewhere down the narrative.

The other characters of the show are plain psychopaths. These are characters who have no backstory or even if they do, it’s impossibly generic and tasteless.

These characters are only motivated by a desire to kill the two main characters and apart from that, they know nothing and care for nothing. This is pretty uninteresting and vague for a thriller anime and it puts the characters into a subpar category, or even below average.

The characters of Satsuriku no Tenshi are subpar and bland. They are flat characters with no story building and none of them contribute anything to the overall plot. It’s more like the plot and the characters are independent of one another and they function in separate spectrums. To conclude this argument, Satsuriku no Tenshi is an anime with average characters and high expectations, only to mix both together to deliver a vaguely uninteresting performance.
