Robinson Haruhara and Hirakei’s fantasy comedy manga series, ‘Tis Time for Torture, Princess, is finally set to receive an anime adaptation. The anime would be directed by Yoko Kanemori, and Pine Jam Studios would be responsible for the animation. The manga follows the story of an unnamed princess, who gets tortured in unconventional ways after she is held captive by the demonic Hellhorde.
Initially, the manga appears to be somewhat revenge-themed, but the story unfolds itself in unique and unexpected ways.
‘Tis Time for Torture, Princess Manga and what is it about?
The manga was made available in Japan via Shonen Jump+, a service provided by Shueisha on April 4, 2019. The manga was made available in English via Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service in the month of October of the same year. Over 200 million people have viewed the manga’s first 11 volumes.

‘Tis Time for Torture, Princess Manga is a delightful comedy about an unnamed Princess, who is the 3rd Knight Order of the King’s Imperial Army. The princess, along with her sword EX are captured as a ‘Prisoner of War’ by a wicked Hellhorde in the middle of a prolonged war between the Hellhorde and the Imperial Army.
The Hellhorde tortures her to get information out of her. The traditional tactics of torturing prisoners of war are outlawed by a peace treaty. So, Torture Tortura, Hellhorde’s great inquisitor, utilizes her own unique ways to entice the Princess to reveal the Kingdom’s secrets by tempting her with delectable delicacies.
Recent updates on ‘Tis Time for Torture, Princess Anime adaptation
According to the newly created social media profiles of the series, the first episode of the upcoming Tis Time for “Torture”, Princess TV anime adaptation, based on the Robinson Haruhara and Hirakei-written and illustrated manga, will air in January 2024.
Along with the announcement of its release, a new trailer for the anime series has also been released.
The anime series will be handled by Pine Jam, the studio behind the recently completed Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Anime, and the upcoming Paradox Live Animation series.
The anime will be directed by Yōko Kanemori, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu in charge of the series narrative and Satoshi Furuhashi and Toshiya Kōno in charge of character design, and Masaru Yokoyama in charge of music composition.
‘Tis Time for Torture, Princess Anime’s cast so far
The initial staff and cast were revealed, which includes:

- Ex – Chikahiro Kobayashi (Played the role of Legoshi in Beastars)
- Torture Tortura – Shizuka Itou (Played the role of Akeno Himejimo in High School DXD)
Satoshi and Toshiya Kouno will be responsible for designing the characters. Masaru Yokoyama is expected to compose the music for the ‘Tis Time for Torture, Princess Anime. More information, including the theme music, new characters, cast episode count, and other elements, has not been updated yet, but we are hopeful that it will be released soon.
