After Miguel’s appearance in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 254, Is there anyone left to fight Sukuna?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 254 spoilers left fans reeling as Kusakabe was left on the ground, teetering on the brink of death. The previous chapters had led us to believe that Usami would be the key to defeating Sukuna, but the jujutsu sorcerers continue to fall like flies in their attempts to stop him.

Now, the spotlight has shifted to Miguel, a character the editors referred to as “the man who fought Gojo on equal footing.” However, we all remember how that fight wentβ€” Miguel couldn’t even land a single punch on Gojo.

If he struggled against Gojo, what chance does he realistically have against Ryomen Sukuna?

As the battle against Sukuna rages on, we really can’t help but wonder: Is there anyone left who can defeat him? Or does Gege have something entirely unexpected planned that we haven’t even considered yet? Are we even sure Gege knows what he is doing?

Let’s be real – we don’t expect Miguel to do much damage here. While the editors have hyped him up as “the man who fought Gojo on equal footing,” the sorcerers who battled Sukuna before Miguel had far more impressive credentials, and they still didn’t stand a chance against him.

Not only did Sukuna defeat Gojo, he also low-diffed fighters like Kashimo and Higuruma. Even the main protagonists of the series, Yuji and Yuta, have barely been able to lay a scratch on Sukuna. And now, we even saw Kusakabe brought to his knees.

  • Narratively, it makes little sense for Miguel to win against Sukuna when all of these incredible jujutsu sorcerers have failed.

The Surviving Prospects

So, who could potentially face Sukuna next?

  • Our best bets likely lie with Yuta, Maki, Hakari, and Yuji. Hopefully, these main characters can get back on their feet and come back with full force.

We know Maki isn’t dead yet (no, we won’t entertain arguments against this, thank you very much), so there’s still hope that Yuta, Yuji, Maki, and Hakari can make a dent in Sukuna’s defenses.

  • Until then, we think Mei Mei might be the next in line to take on Sukuna, as he turned his attention to Ui Ui in the latest chapter.

While we don’t know how that fight will turn out, if Sukuna goes after her brother, Mei Mei will undoubtedly join the arena. This could give the main characters the time they need to regroup and launch another assault.

What if Sukuna never loses?

We’ve all been operating under the assumption that Sukuna will eventually meet his end, but we can’t forget that Gege Akutami has zero obligations to make that happen.

We once speculated that Sukuna might actually be the real protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, and with each passing chapter after Gojo’s death, our theory seems more and more plausible. What if Gege never planned for Sukuna to lose?

Sukuna & The Merger

  • The fact that Sukuna became irritated at Ui Ui teleporting the fallen jujutsu sorcerers away implies one of two things: either Ui Ui is indeed teleporting the incapacitated sorcerers to safety for healing, or Sukuna has some personal reason to want to keep the bodies on the battlefield.

We also remember Sukuna stating that he will ensure that Tengen merges with the rest of humanity this time around. But if being part of this merger is Sukuna’s wish, then what exactly does he hope to achieve?

Sukuna is a remorseless beast that kills and devours without care for consequences or even his own death. There’s no deeper point to his actions beyond doing whatever he pleases. Yet he traveled from the Heian era to obtain something Kenjaku promised.

  • Our guess is that Sukuna wants to fight the merged entity. There’s nothing else the King of Curses could want from Tengen.
  • There’s also a popular theory that suggests that Kenjaku never meant for Yuji to be Sukuna’s host, but instead the new Star Plasma Vessel. Once Yuji merges with Tengen, he might be able to defeat Sukuna, but at what cost? That sounds exactly like a question Gege might be interested to explore.

The Main Protagonist of the Story

At the end of the day, is it Sukuna’s fated for a climactic downfall, or does Gege have something entirely different in mind for the unstoppable King of Curses? While we eagerly await answers, one thing is certain – the ride getting there promises to be nothing short of exhilarating. Sukuna has already left a trail of fallen sorcerers in his wake, and the world of Jujutsu Kaisen may never be the same again regardless of how his story concludes. Buckle up, folks, because the rollercoaster has only just begun.
