One Piece Manga 1109 Spoilers: Did Vegapunk trick the Gorosei into exposing themselves?

Luffy in One Piece Egghead Island arc

Last week’s chapter of One Piece ended on a major cliffhanger, as Vegapunk broadcasted a mysterious final message to the world from Egghead Island before his fate was made clear. Fans were left wondering whether the scientist had met his end, or if he had one last trick up his sleeve.

  • The brief spoilers for this week’s upcoming chapter, One Piece 1109, have now confirmed that Dr. Vegapunk is indeed dead.
  • His world-wide broadcast was a final act of rebellion, with Vegapunk using his last moments to send a message out to the entire planet.

After years spent working under the World Government against his will, Vegapunk is using the global attention from his shocking transmission to potentially impact world events one last time.

The full revelations of what Vegapunk’s final words mean have yet to be seen. But One Piece manga 1109 spoilers promise to pick up right where last week’s chapter left. We only have the brief spoilers for now, but the updated panel-by-panel spoilers shouldn’t take longer than another day. We will make sure to update this article as more reliable leaks surface, so keep an eye out!

One Piece 1109 Leaks: Saturn summons the rest of the Gorosei to Egghead

One Piece 1109 opens with a cover story of Wano, where we see Onigashima sinking into the sea like the Titanic.

  • The chapter then jumps back to Egghead, opening up with Dr. Vegapunk’s pre-recorded broadcast to the entire world. Vegapunk informs viewers they have just minutes to prepare their video Den Den Mushi devices to watch his upcoming message.

We see reactions from across the One Piece world, with figures like Morgans, Princess Vivi, and even villains like Wapol shown getting ready to view Vegapunk’s transmission. The Gorosei also wonder about the origins of this world-wide broadcast.

Meanwhile, back on Egghead Island, Luffy’s fight against Kizaru and Saturn continues. Saturn is completely transformed by now, with not a shred of humanity in his eyes. Luffy, of course, does not care and continues to attack.

He dodges Kizaru’s light-based attacks in various creative ways, but is shocked when his own strikes fail to damage Saturn at all. He eventually smashes Saturn flat, along with Kizaru, but neither takes any visible harm.

  • By the chapter’s end, the leaks say that it appears Saturn summons the rest of the Gorosei to Egghead. We’re not sure what the leakers mean by that, but it might mean that the these are clones of the rest of the Elders, and not actually them.

Vegapunk’s dramatic broadcast seems intended to provoke a reaction from the World Government’s most elite figures.

By pointedly informing viewers they have mere minutes to prepare, it feels like he wants the Elders or WG to make a hasty move. And it looks like the bait worked – Saturn did end up summoning the rest of the Gorosei squad. What better way to expose the WG and announce Nika’s return?

Do you think Vegapunk planned this all along or is it just a coincidence? We’d love to actively discuss this with you, so let us know your theories in the comments!

Is it really the Gorosei or just Clones?

Of course, it’s still hard to believe that Oda would bring out all 5 Gorosei into the story so soon (and it does feel soon, even if we’re already past the 1100 chapters mark).

  • Since the leakers said it “appears” that Saturn summoned them, there’s still a possibility that the Gorosei who showed up to the island are clones created using Saturn’s powers.

Yet, as wild as it sounds, this gambit actually aligns with the momentum needed for One Piece’s grand finale. With under five or so arcs likely left, there are truthfully only two major antagonist players left standing as Luffy’s final bosses — Blackbeard and Imu.

So while the idea of Oda introducing the top brass out of nowhere sounds absurd, he may want to bring all the final chess pieces into position now while there’s still runaway room left.

Then again, it’s not like Oda is known for doing things we expect. We really can’t be sure of what’s going on until the full spoilers arrive, so stay tuned!
