High Card anime is set in the Kingdom of Fourland, where a secret deck of 52 X-Playing cards, each of which bestows a superhuman power or ability to whoever uses them, is being hunted by a group of criminals. A thief named Finn is struggling to raise money for his orphanage before the landlord clears it out.
After a fateful ride to a casino, Finn soon finds himself inducted into High Card, a special group tasked by the King to recover all 52 cards while working undercover as a salesman for the Pinochle car company. Finn is joined by a group of other players, each with their own unique abilities.
There is Ace, a skilled gambler with a photographic memory; Jack, a powerful martial artist; Queen, a seductive femme fatale; and King, a mysterious man with a dark past.
Together, the High Card players must face off against the criminals who are trying to steal the cards, as well as the Klondikes, a powerful Mafia family. In a world where power is determined by the cards you hold, the High Card players must use all of their skills and abilities to save the Kingdom of Fourland.
