Story

The story of Solo Leveling is straightforward and not its strongest point. It gets balanced out by elaborate world-building and flashy fights. When the story peaks, nothing can compete with Solo Leveling in the same league. Although it’s not always consistent, sometimes it’s so good that you can very evidently feel a disparity in the quality when it drops even slightly.

The plot of The Beginning After The End is more consistent and complex as compared to Solo Leveling. The author of the latter is more experienced and it can be seen through the progression of the story. Solo Leveling does a better job with the execution as well.

Not just The Beginning After The End, Solo Leveling has the best art style as compared to a lot of other manhwas. The reason behind the massive popularity is primarily the visuals, whether it’s the character designs or art style. Solo Leveling is a pioneer in this regard.

Characters

The main characters, Arthur and Jinwoo are both overpowered but with different approaches towards it. Jinwoo is much more overpowered as compared to Arthur. The character designs are slightly superior in SL. The side characters are not strong in either of them. In Solo Leveling, we get introduced to multiple cool characters and villains but they’re not very memorable.

Similarly, in The Beginning After The End, the characters besides the MC are uninteresting and severely lacking in a lot of aspects. We don’t go too far with the development of most characters but it’s still ahead as compared to SL.

Power Systems

Being a high fantasy, where the readers get introduced to a new world, helps The beginning after the end to build a better power system. Solo Leveling enjoys the comfort of a pre-existing video game setup. Both of them follow a mana-based magical power system. The power and abilities are similar to that of a video game in Solo Leveling. Whereas The Beginning After The End has different growth levels and stages for its characters.

Conclusion

Despite everything, nobody can take away the love and the fandom both ‘The Beginning after the End’ and ‘Solo Leveling’ have garnered for themselves. The beginning after the end was the author’s first project and considering that we can only hope for some brilliant works ahead in the future. Solo Leveling has created a legacy and the numerous creations inspired by it are all a confirmation of it.
