Even so, It’s the Horimiya we all know and love, and we can’t recommend it more.

A gorgeous surprise of the year, “Suki na Ko ga Megane” is easily one of the most gorgeously animated romcoms this year, with its amazing attention to detail, especially on its character’s hair. But beauty makes not the person, though the anime is still relatively new, the character dynamic between the main character Komura and his love interest Mie is adorable and natural to watch. They truly feel like a natural middle school duo, and though the romance is yet to be center stage, we can guarantee that it will be worth it when it does.
3. My Happy Marriage

A welcome change of pace when it comes to shoujo romance. My happy marriage starts off with some really depressing and heavy imagery but soon transforms into a pretty beautiful love story, that is strong due to its naturally paced progression and realistic character writing. The anime also boasts a very gorgeous color palate and incredibly high detail that will remind you of the likes of “Violet Evergarden“. The anime is still relatively new but the story is sure to take some real wholesome turns.
4. Skip and Loafer

The 2023 anime to deliver you the “Kokoro Connect” craving that you deserve. Skip and Loafer takes the best parts of Kokoro, Horimiya, and Mob Psycho, and somehow delivers one of the most authentic feeling growing-up anime tales in recent memory. It provides a well-developed cast, an amazingly executed premise, and a feel-good vibe that would make even the most stone-cold of people blush with nostalgia.

An obligatory action slice of life, This anime is easily the most unique when it comes to the premise on this list. A defeated demon lord resurrects only to find out that his arch nemesis is now a shut-in bum who is addicted to gambling. It does not take too long in the series until hijinx ensues and for some reason between all of this, the show gets ample time to develop a romance that should never work but somehow does. If you want to get your rom-com fix, this anime is the one for you.
