Each year, the anime streaming website Crunchyroll presents The Anime Awards, commonly referred to as The Crunchyroll Anime Awards, to honor the greatest anime from the previous year. The awards were first given in January 2017, following its announcement in December 2016. Since 2017, this annual event has recognized and celebrated the best anime shows, and the amazing individuals who create them.

What are the Anime Awards and When will it happen?

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards have become a tradition in the sphere of anime shows, much like the sensational Golden Globes of Hollywood! The anime awards are presented each year for the outstanding shows that were created in the previous year. This honoring ceremony of awarding the people behind these amazing shows has been going on since 2017. Receiving an award not only reminds them of how hard they have worked during the entire year but also serves as a form of reminder that they get to touch millions of hearts every day, from all over the world.

For this year’s anime awards, the Grand Winners in each category will be announced on March 2, 2024, from Tokyo, Japan. The award ceremony will be held at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan. Fans from all over the world can also tune in to the livestream to witness this beautiful and grand show!

How do you become a part of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards?

The awards are decided in two rounds of voting. In the first round, each judge will submit up to five applicants for each category. The six candidates who received the most cumulative nominations from the panel will be featured in the final list. During the voting process, which lasts a week, the public can select one contender per category each day. The winners in each category are those who garnered the most votes from both the judges and the public.

Fans can participate in the anime awards in three ways: by voting, sharing, and watching the show!

During this year’s voting period, which starts from, January 17, 9:00 AM PT – January 27, 11:59 PM PT, fans can cast their votes in Crunchroll’s official website once per day in a variety of categories. Crunchyroll also allows you to resubmit your entire ballot that you initially chose, for each category, in one click!

You can also ensure that your favorite picks get more votes by sharing your picks with your friends and telling them to do the same. To make things easier for you and your friends, you’ll get a downloadable image of your ballot after you vote, which can be shared for reference.

Here are certain guidelines that need to be kept in mind, while voting for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards:

• Fans will need to log in using either their email address or phone number. This allows you to cast your vote once a day for a Grand Winner in each category and share your choices with others.
• Fans can vote once each day between January 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM (PT), and January 27, 2024, at 11:59:59 PM (PT). To make voting even easier, this year you may resubmit your ballot from the previous day with a single click!

Guidelines and Eligibility for nominations of anime shows

Unless otherwise specified, candidates must be or be linked with an anime that fits all of the following requirements:

• Are considered an animated series.
• Primary production occurred in Japan.
• One episode aired on television or online in Japan between October 2022 and September 2023, at least in part.
• At least one episode had its initial legal distribution outside of Japan in 2022 or 2023.

Crunchyroll has a panel of distinguished judges, that consists of industry veterans and anime content creators, who will determine the six nominees for Round One. In this first round of voting, each judge submits up to five eligible candidates per category using a password-protected digital ballot, and the six candidates who are mentioned most become the Round One nominees. Voting will be managed and looked over by Crunchyroll’s partner Telescope, rather than Crunchyroll themselves for transparency, accuracy, and fairness during the voting process.
