Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024: Winner predictions

Predictions for Crunchyroll anime awards 2024

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 are upon us, that glorious night where we celebrate the year’s finest anime adventures. But who will wear the crown – or in this case, the golden Crunchyroll – in each category? Fear not, fellow weebs, because I’m here to dissect the nominees and make some bold predictions (and maybe shed a tear over some snubs). Buckle up, ’cause it’s about to get award-show spicy!

Predicting who wins Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024

Anime of the Year

This one’s a tight race, hotter than Tanjiro’s forehead under the sun. Since all the anime nominated under this category are too popular to be left out, it is difficult to choose one winner among them. While Jujutsu Kaisen has no doubt enthralled us with the Shibuya arc, Demon Slayer’s action cannot be undermined in its shadow.

However, Chainsaw Man is a monstrous contender who trumps all the other nominees with its blend of gore, humor, and devilish charm which immediately became the talk of the town with its initial launch. Ultimately, we predict Chainsaw Man will reign supreme – it’s just too damn popular and visually stunning to ignore.

Best Continuing Series

This category is a battle royale between established titans. Attack on Titan’s epic finale delivered emotional gut punches and jaw-dropping animation, but it’s already bowed out with a previous win. Demon Slayer‘s flashy swordsmanship returns, but has it peaked? One Piece thrilled with its expanded lore and power-ups, but can it dethrone the king? Yes, it can! Our money’s on One Piece. It built upon the previous season’s momentum, mastered the blend of action and character development, and left us screaming for more.

Best New Series

Oshi no Ko and Zom 100: Bucket list of the Dead nominated for Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024

The battle for Best New Series is a close call between two wildly different yet equally enchanting nominees: Oshi no Ko and Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. Oshi no Ko’s dark plot and exploration of the idol industry’s underbelly offer a thought-provoking, if unsettling, viewing experience.

Meanwhile, Zom 100’s post-apocalyptic world filled with adorable zombie girls and a surprisingly wholesome protagonist provides pure escapist fun. Ultimately, Oshi no Ko’s unique premise and sharp writing might give it the edge, but Zom 100’s infectious energy shouldn’t be underestimated.

Best Film

From epic adventures to heartfelt romances, the film nominees are diverse. Black Clover’s magic battles are a spectacle, Blue Giant’s jazz story hits all the right notes, and First Slam Dunk reignites our love for basketball anime. But the emotional rollercoaster of Suzume, a Makoto Shinkai masterpiece about a runaway girl and closing doors, is our pick. It’s visually stunning, thematically relatable, and will leave you with a lump in your throat the size of Totoro.

Best Original Anime

In a sea of isekai and shonen anime, Buddy Daddies stands out as a refreshing breath of original air. This heartwarming story about two adoptive fathers raising a young girl is packed with humor, action, and genuine emotional depth. The unique premise, lovable characters, and high production value make Buddy Daddies a strong contender for Best Original, potentially giving established favorites like Akiba Maid War and Birdie Wing a run for their money.

But I’m giving it to Buddy Daddies, a heartwarming story about two single dads raising a child – it’s the perfect blend of humor, action, and unexpected feels.

Best Animation and Best Action

Ryomen Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 nominated for Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024

Attack on Titan’s final episode was a tour de force, Chainsaw Man’s fluidity is mesmerizing, and Demon Slayer’s swordplay dances like fireflies. However nothing beats the fluid animation work involved in the making of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. Keeping the animation controversy aside, we can say for sure that MAPPA’s perfect blend of CGI and hand-drawn animation paid off.

From Gojo and Toji’s groundbreaking battles to Sukuna’s revival, Jujutsu Kaisen pushes the boundaries of animation, making it a frontrunner for both Best Animation and Action. The sheer spectacle and coordinated mayhem of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s fights takes the cake. While Chainsaw Man’s debut season boasted impressive animation, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s consistent quality and focus on detailed fight choreography might give it the upper hand.

Conclusion

Remember, these are just predictions, our fellow anime enthusiasts. The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 are as unpredictable as a plot twist in an isekai light novel. But hey, that’s what makes it exciting, right? So grab your popcorn, tune in on February 25th, and let the anime accolades commence! May the best (and weirdest) anime win!
