There’s no denying the fact that the Stern Ritters easily overpowered the Captains in Bleach TYBW Part 2. At the same time, it doesn’t equate to the Captains being weak. The Stern Ritters have some advantages that put them in a position of power:

  • Quincies have Intel on all the Captains of the Soul Society. It has helped them strategize in advance. Whereas Soul Reapers needs to plan, adapt and save the Soul Society all at the same time.
  • The absence of the strongest soul reapers namely Rukia, Byakuya, Zaraki, Abarai, and Ichigo has brought down the manpower of the Soul Society.

To sum it up, the Captains are not weak. They have been weakened but that’s not why we see the Stern Ritters leading the Captains vs. Stern Ritters. It’s the situation they’ve been put in.

Even if it’s the situation and not the Captains themselves, losing to the Quincies won’t bode well for the Captains. The Soul Society was well aware of this fact. The call from Urahara to Kurotsuchi can change the flow in favor of the Soul Society. Urahara has found a way to retrieve the lost Bankai.

  • Given that, the captains might be stalling the Quincies to buy time for Urahara and Kurotsuchi.
  • The Soul Reapers have trained to become stronger, if they get their Bankai back their power levels will reach new heights.

With that, it’s safe to say that the outcomes of the first and second invasions will vary by a substantial margin. Even if they don’t win by a landslide, the Captains won’t let Quincies have their way one way more time.

Conclusion

The comeback of Bleach has been glorious with the Thousand Year Blood War Arc. Bleach TYBW Part 2 is maintaining the standards set by its predecessor. Even though the situation seems dire for the Soul Society, the Captains won’t go down without a fight. It doesn’t appear as if they’re planning to go down at all. With Urahara in the mix now, things are bound to take a curious turn.
