The return of Bleach is as solid as the Seireitei. The first invasion in the Thousand Years Blood War arc obliterated the Soul Society. Bleach TYBW Part 2 turned out to be more fair in comparison to the previous one as it leveled the field for Soul Society, giving them a chance to prepare in advance.  

Even then, the Soul Reapers have been barely holding their ground without the captains and Ichigo. As the invasion progressed, both Quincies and Soul Reapers lost much of their strength. After the defeat of Mask De Masculine, everything has come to a standstill. That brings us to the question, Is the second invasion over?

Important developments during the Second Invasion in Bleach TYBW Part 2

The second invasion has been quite extreme so far. Even without some of the strongest Captains, Soul Society was able to hold their fort while giving Quincies a hard time. Some of the developments worth noting during the second invasion can help us in navigating our way through everything that has happened:

  • First and foremost is the betrayal of Uryu, which wasn’t received well by the SternRitters. 
  • Followed by the events of the Soul Society, the retrieval of Bankai, and the defeat of Cang Du, Bazz B, BG9, and Bambietta. The Soul Society has also lost considerable manpower with Captain Muguruma, Hitsugaya, Shinji, Komamura, Madarame, and Shuhei in critical condition.

In the Soul Palace, Ichigo has been undergoing training while the responsibility he bears weighs him down. He was able to come to terms with everything with the help of the Royal Guards it seems.

Is the second invasion over?

The second invasion has scratched the surface without revealing any significant details. We have no information about whatever is going on with Ichigo, the whereabouts of Zaraki and Byakuya, the training Rukia went through, and Yhwach is mysterious through and through. These are all the lingering loose ends ever since the second invasion started.

The second invasion is not over as there has been no order of retreat from Yhwach and the Quincies haven’t accomplished their goal of defeating the Soul Society. Also, we’re yet to see what Rukia is capable of and the return of Captain Byakuya and Captain Zaraki, along with the training results of Orihime and Chad in Hueco Mundo.

As Bleach TYBW Part 2 progresses, the focus might shift from Quincies and Soul Reapers to Ichigo and Uryu. Despite the mind-blowing fights and Bankai reveals, we’re yet to see the return of the captains and Ichigo. Abarai and Rukia are already back and there’s a significant difference in their stature. Renji almost effortlessly defeated an opponent the previous captains and vice captains struggled so much with. 

Momentarily, it might look like the second invasion has come to an end, but we’re far from it. The Head Captain and Captain Kurotsuchi have come up with a new formation and they’re rebuilding their battlefront. As things fall back into place, the second invasion will hopefully move towards a better end than the first time around.
