MAPPA stage 2023 took place on May 21st in Tokyo Garden Theatre. The event was anticipated by fans as MAPPA is handling the animation production of some popular fan-favorite anime such as Attack on Titans, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, Hell’s Paradise, and so on.
The event took off with an opening video with clips from some anime the studio is working on and had performances from the cast of the series concerned. These are all the announcements made on the MAPPA stage 2023.

Attack on Titan
Romi Park, Yuki Kaji, and Yui Ishikawa were present on the stage. There was a live reading of the most memorable scenes along with the release of the key visual for the final part of the anime series. The final part will come out somewhere between October and December with no final dates. The events of the previous part released in March 2022 left the voice actor of Hange, Romi Park emotional.
Jujutsu Kaisen
The talk of the town was Jujutsu Kaisen. The anime is one of the most popular Shounen anime of the current lot. The upcoming summer 2023 anime was on the stage with its new trailer.
Vinland saga
Season 2 of the anime is going on right now. There were no significant announcements except for the unveiling of the new trailer. The show’s cast, the director, and the producer discussed the ongoing season and the best moments so far.
Chainsaw Man
The most exciting part quickly became a bummer with the lack of information about season 2. Chainsaw Man season 1 rose to popularity very quickly and fans were looking forward to announcements by the studio about season 2 and potential trailer release but nothing happened.
There were performances by the cast along with a display of the official merch and clips from the show. A giant Pochita was the highlight of the segment.
Buchhigiri
Buchhigiri was the only new anime announced. This is an anime original, directed by the director of Banana Fish. The visual and trailer were unveiled on the stage. The anime will come out in January 2024. The story of the anime sounds interesting with the main character getting caught up in a battle and reuniting with his former best friend. There’s also a giant genie involved in the story.
The Mourning Children: Nagiko and the Girls Wearing Tsurubami Black
Mappa Stage 2023 revealed the new movie which is set in Kyoto 10th century. The event released the teaser visual. The movie is directed by Sunao Katabuchi, who also directed black lagoon along with other series.
Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kôjô
There was an official announcement with the release of a key visual and teaser trailer of this new movie MAPPA is working on. It’s an original movie so there’s a scope for a lot of creative freedom. The movie is coming out on September 15th, 2023.
Campfire cooking in another world with my absurd skill and Hell’s Paradise didn’t have any announcements to make. The cast of the former was present and got to taste stew made by Yuma Uchida whereas the latter also had its cast present at the show participating in a quiz and sharing production experience.
