Oshi no Ko manga might be setting up Kana fans for major disappointment: Here’s why

Kana Arima Best Girl

Oshi no Ko is a character-driven drama, without a list of compelling characters the story wouldn’t have resonated with so many people as it did. Among so many characters, Kana Arima stood out with her strong qualities. Her dedication to her craft and innocence towards human relationships made her an instant favorite. In recent chapters of Oshi No Ko manga, Aka Akasaka has been favoring Kana a lot.

Her relationship with Aqua and Ruby has also blossomed into a stronger bond. Everything was going great until it wasn’t. Kana decided to hurt Ruby to help her understand Ai better. Whatever her intentions were, they ended up drifting the girls apart. And with how everything is proceeding, Kana fans might be in for a lot of disappointment in the near future.

Up till now, her interaction with every significant character has reflected positively on her character. She became a much-deserved push needed by the characters around her. But she might have taken it a bit too far during her recent altercation with Ruby. Her intentions were rooted in care and love but she questioned the bond they both shared.

She twisted the reality of their relationship. Despite her good intentions, she scarred Ruby with her words. She would be getting off the hook too easily if she didn’t face the consequences of her actions. These consequences can show up as increased distance and irreparable damage between the two girls. Director Gotanda hinted at a potential future where Kana steps in to save Ruby.

This might be a hint towards how she will redeem herself by ultimately saving Ruby. But she also contributed to pushing Ruby over the edge in a way. Her character has reached a point that has got all Kana fans concerned. Either the best girl will die saving Ruby or she’ll lose her friendship with Ruby. There’s another possibility where we’ll be spared of the extremities but the current progression makes it seem extremely improbable.

Oshi no Ko Chapter 136: The filming of the Ai-Nino scene

In Oshi no Ko Chapter 136, the director will shoot the scene where Nino speaks harshly to Ai. This interaction is personal to both Ruby and Kana. They are not only acting as the characters but also living them at present. Their equation has become strangely similar to Ai and Nino.

Ruby is hurt by the words of her friend, and the interaction might convey to Kana the damage her words incurred on Ruby. This realization might act as the wake-up call she needs. She needs to stick close by Ruby’s side as Ruby is undergoing the same events that made Ai who she was.

Aqua has idolized Ai in her head, he believes her to be a strong girl who doesn’t break. He wouldn’t be able to support Ruby as he can never truly understand what she’s going through or what Ai went through. This is why Kana needs to backtrack her steps and make it up to Ruby. But the future depends on the impact of the Ai-Nino scene.

Conclusion

The depiction of the emotions and the inner turmoil of different characters in Oshi No Ko is admirable. We’re witnessing the story slowly unfold where the choices, made by every character, are leading us to the ultimate future.

Every decision is further complicating the story, landing us in a state of confusion. With that said, Kana’s decisions might be in favor of her acting career but the same can’t be said about the well-being of her relationship with others and herself.
