One Piece Episode 1066 Does Kid treasure his fellow pirates more than we thought he did

One Piece Episode 1066 was a visual delight with its sheer amount of experimentation with the color palettes. Not just a visual treat, but also a comic indulgence for the viewers. But beyond all of that, we got to see a side of Eustass Kid we haven’t had much exposure to before. The episode starts with a slideshow of all the moments which have led the current lot to the fight against Big Mom and Kaido.

  • A collection of all the memories with other pirates and the build-up to the significant moment in front of him. Contrary to his character, he seemed to care for the pirates he was thinking about; especially for those he’s always engaging in banters with.
  • Episode 1066 did a good job exploring this side of him. But it also makes one think if Kid treasures his fellow pirates more than we thought he did.

Kidd and his fellow pirates

The supernovas were introduced back in Sabaody. Since then there have been multiple moments where they were seen as a unit. Especially Luffy, Kid, and Law.

They have accepted each other as rivals. Their acknowledgement of each other’s goals also helps in creating necessary boundaries as and when required. Their dynamics right now are very similar to that of Roger and Whitebeard.

The alliance between the members of the worst generation

The formation of an alliance between these pirates has led to a sense of unity between them. Law and Kid were well aware of the fact that they needed help to take down the emperors. They decided to put together their strengths with their fellow pirates and achieve their respective goals.

They have grown closer and defeating Big Mom is a huge feat. The display of emotions was very natural, for even someone like Kid.

The episode vs manga chapter

The One Piece anime is notorious for stretching things unnecessarily. Episode 1066 proved that if done right this can lead to valuable additions. The kid’s thoughts weren’t as well explored in the manga as they were in the anime.

The anime has given Kid’s thought process more depth and food for thought for the fans. We witnessed his feelings towards other pirates who have been on the same path as him.

The growing bond

There’s no denying that this collective feat in Wano has helped Kid understand the other pirates better. We’ve seen how deeply Kid cares about Killer. Maybe the same sort of affection is being extended to Law and the others of their generation. They have grown to be able to trust each other and rely on others as and when needed. As seen between Kid and Law in episode 1066 and Luffy and Law in Dressrosa.

There are also moments where Kid and Law are worried for Luffy which might just be a concern for their personal gains from the fight. But it’s evident to most fans that it reaches beyond that.

Conclusion

The dynamics between the pirates are never spoken out loud and clear in One Piece. One episode 1066 helped fans in reading between the lines. We might never get a verbal token of the dynamics shared by Kid and his fellow pirates but visual tokens like the one in episode 1066, though subtle are always welcomed.
