When everyone in your family is killed off due to their political connections, what do you do? You summon a hell-dog and make him your butler. Yep, you heard it right. Black Butler is the story of Earl Ciel Phantomhive and his loyal butler Sebastian who carry out the task given to them by Queen Victoria, as the “Queen’s Watch Dog”. This is the tale of the enigmatic duo fighting off supernatural beings as they get closer to the secrets of the death of the Phantomhive family.

This is one heck of an anime to watch on Halloween. It has it all :

  • Dashing characters? Check
  • A thrilling and engaging storyline? Check
  • Supernatural excitement? Check

4. Castlevania

When your wife is killed off by the Church for being a witch, what do you do? You usually start with unleashing Hell on the nation. Not figuratively, but quite literally. When Dracula’s wife is burnt at the stake for the advanced medical technology she uses to help others, the clergy cannot help themselves after finding such a wonderful wood to burn. Staked at the church, they evoke the Devil’s wrath, and thus begin the tale of Alucard, Trevor, and Sypha as they travel through the lands to stop Dracula.

This anime is one philosophical ride, with its jaw-dropping dialogues to action-packed sequences, this show will keep you on your toes.

  • The show has an engaging storyline, with equally developing characters.
  • The show has a beautiful animation that will make you mesmerized as you continue to watch, truly an out-of-the-world experience fit for the occasion.
  • The show is about supernatural beings, what could sound more Halloweenly than Dracula himself?

3. Monogatari Series

When Araragi meets Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade, he gets turned into a vampire for his help in saving her. With his newfound powers, he now has to help Kiss-shot recover her limps and get back to her full power. But things do not usually go as one wants them to. Their tale takes a different route for a certain reason, which I can’t reveal because spoiler. As Araragi continues to live his life, he must solve supernatural problems to help his friends.

The synopsis is as vague as the franchise, and that is what makes it too exciting to watch. The anime has been executed in the style of French Movies, using monologues for most of its part. As an avid fan of this series, this one is a must-watch for anyone with the Halloween spirit.

  • The show has tons of mysteries that you get to solve one at a time, making you almost feel like a Detective.
  • The show has brilliant action scenes wherever it demands of one.
  • The characters have vivid and different personalities.

There are tons of sequels that might confuse you a bit, so here’s the watch order, free of charge.

2. Soul Eater

Watching kids harvest souls for their Death Reaper is the most Halloweenly you can get. Soul Eater is the tale of Maka Albarn and her partner Soul Evans, who  have their sights on making a Death Scythe. This is the most sought-after dream in the underworld, and for them to accomplish it, they will have to reap 99 souls. So they begin their journey, finding souls to reap and reaping them.

If the synopsis sounds childish, that’s exactly how the show is going to be. Childish fun, but occasionally some mature understanding life will also come crashing onto you. This show has done Halloween right, with the entire vibe of the show matching the holiday.

  • The show will have pumpkins, yay holiday spirit.
  • The show will have Shinigamis going out for spirits, truly the trick or treat experience.
  • The shinigamis are kids, wonderful.

1. Berserk

I don’t I need to explain myself here, but if you want to get truly spooked on a holiday for scary, this is your best shot. Berserk is Gut’s tale as he ventures through his life, having everything and everyone he ever cherished. This show is filled with dread and sadness that will make you cherish your closed one more than you ever did before. And hey, that’s the right kind of results anyone needs on a holiday, to be closer to the one they love.

The show has it all, you name it.

  • Action? Tons of it, soo much that it’s sickening.
  • Love? The entire premise started with love.
  • Engaging Plot? Check is an understatement.
  • Intriguing characters? Everyone you meet in the show will leave an impact in your life that you never saw coming.

Although fair warning, the anime isn’t as good as the manga. The animation might feel very broken at times, not in the good sense. However, it is something you can watch in one sitting and serves as a decent start with the franchise. Something that aligns with the spirit of Halloween.

Conclusion

So here is it. I hope you like this list and this made it easier for you to chose your show for relaxing. Although, I am not entirely sure if the #1 spot will let you relax, but i am sure it will bring you closer to whoever you watch it with. All of them, except Monogatari series, are available on Netflix.
