Mushoku Tensei Season 2: Release schedule + Recap of Season 1

Mushoku Tensei is here with new updates to the release schedule. But to enjoy Mushoku Tensei season 2 to the fullest, you need to catch up with the previous season. But 24 episodes sounds like too much work. To make it all easier we’ve got the season 2 release schedule along with the recap of season 1. Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Release schedule

Season 2 of Mushoku Tensei will be having 2 cours. They won’t be consecutive. The first cour will be airing from July to September while the second one airs in 2024, from April to June. Season 2 started with episode 0 which came out on July 2nd. 

Mushoku Tensei recap: Cour 1

Episodes 1-6

The anime starts with a worthless Japanese man getting hit by a truck and then reincarnated in a different world as Rudeus Greyrat.

• Rudeus remembers everything from his past life. His parents, Zenith and Pault realize that Rudeus needs to be taught magic as he’s able to use it at a very early age. They hire Roxy who comes in to teach him magic. Reluctant at first, she soon realized his potential and started to train him. 
• On his fifth birthday Roxy realizes that she has taught everything she could to Rudeus. She takes him outside for a final examination where he overcomes his past life’s fear of bullying. And also passes the exam by summoning a tornado. 

• He starts playing outside. He saves Sylph from some kids bullying her. Rudeus and Sylphy become friends after practising magic together. He takes her home and realizes she’s a girl. Sylphiette gets mad at him. When they finally make up he decides to cherish her forever. 
• Next up, Zenith and Lilia both are pregnant with Paul’s child. Rudeus, using his brains, saves Lilia from Zenith’s wrath by blaming Paul. He decides to go to a magic school to pursue for which he’ll need money. With his parents’ help, he meets Ghislayne who’s their family friend.

• Ghislayne takes him to Phyllis Greyrat who wants Rudeus to teach his daughter, Eris, magic. Eris dismisses and refuses to learn from Rudeus. He comes up with a fake kidnapping which ends up becoming real and gets Eris to accept him as her teacher. He starts to teach both Eris and Ghislayne magic and math. Ghislayne teaches them swordsmanship in return. 

Episodes 7-11

As Eris’ Tenth birthday approaches, she learns to dance along with her other studies. On the day of the event, she fails to dance with a noble, and Rudeus steps in for them to have a wonderful dance together. Rudeus meets Eris’ grandfather when they see a strange light in the sky. 

• The next day when Ghislayne, Eris, and Rudeus are out training they get caught up in a Mana Calamity. 
• An unconscious Rudeus meets a Human God, who asks him to help the man who saved him. When he wakes up he finds out that he and Eris were teleported to the Demon continent and were saved by Rujierd, a Superd.  They embark to a nearby village. This village is Roxy’s birthplace and they meet her family. 

• Rujierd tells Rudeus about the Superd race. A demon god manipulated the Superds turning them into man-killing monsters. Rudeus decides to help Rujierd in cleaning up the name of the race and the three of them embark on a journey. 
• They take on missions as a party of three with the alias Dead End. 
• On the other hand Roxy is looking for Rudeus and his family. Roxy and Rudeus along with his companions head to the same city to look for Paul and his family. 

Mushoku Tensei Recap: Cour 2

Episodes 12-18

Rujierd, being a Superd makes it financially difficult for them to get on the boat to travel. The Human God contacts Rudeus and asks him to buy food. He listens and feeds it to a Demon Emperor. As a payback, she gives Rudeus a demon eye which helps him see into the future. He uses it to save a man, Gallus, who approaches them later. 

• At the Zant Port, Rudeus gets caught up in trouble with the furries. He meets Geese in prison. He saves the furries from Gallus and meets up with Eris and Rujierd.
• Next up, Rudeus faces off against Paul who is in the city with his party. He knew Rudeus was safe but he didn’t expect him to be going around the world having fun. The father and son get in a bloody brawl and Norn interrupts to stop Rudeus from hitting her Dad. 

• Rudy reconciles with Paul.  The father and son meet and re-evaluate everything. Rudy decides to send Eris back home and then look for his mother and sister. Paul decides to continue rescuing whoever he can with his group. 
• The Human God meets up with Rudeus again. He asks God to tell him the whereabouts of Lilia and Aisha. He also asks the god to not have him return to his older form but that’s just the shape of his soul so it can’t be helped much. Rudeus heads to Shirone Kingdom and finds Aisha.

Episodes 19-23

Shirone kingdom is also the place where Roxy taught Prince Pax magic. Pax is obsessed with Roxy and kidnaps Lilia to lure in Rudeus and then finally Roxy. Zanoba is impressed with the number of details in Roxy’s figurines and helps Rudeus in getting out of the barrier. After rescuing Lilia, the three of them head to their next destination. 

• They run into a terrifying man, Orsted, who knows everything about Rujierd and Eris. They both are terrified of him but not Rudeus. After hearing the mention of Human-God, Orsted attacks Rudeus. Eris and Rujierd try to save him but they get badly injured as well. 

• Rudeus meets the Human God and shares a final dialogue with him about Orsted. The God tells him that Orsted is also a god and people are terrified of him because of a curse. Rudeus is more cordial than usual as he thinks he’s dead. After the conversation ends he comes back to consciousness and hugs Eris. 
• Rujierd bids the two of them goodbye after thanking them for their time together. Rudeus and Eris set out alone and meet Ghislayne and Alphonso, who break it to them about the deceased family of Eris. Eris takes some time alone. The next morning she leaves with a letter to Rudeus without disclosing where she’s off to. 

• Feeling abandoned, Rudeus goes into a state of isolation. We see him reminiscing about his past life where he followed a similar pattern and it was too late by the time he realized it. On the other hand, we see Eris declaring her love for Rudy and her desire to protect him. Paul meets up with Aisha and Lilia.
• Finally, we see Rudeus remembering that as a kid he promised Zenith that he’ll bear the responsibility of waking her up, and that pushes him to get up.
