Top 5 Side Characters who should be the Main Characters

Hitoshi Shinso

Hitoshi from My Hero Academia is an intriguing character. He was first introduced in Season 2 during the U.A. Sports Festival Arc.

  • He has a Brainwashing quirk that allows him to control anyone who responds to his question.
  • This is quite a powerful ability, so much so that he has been treated as a villain all his life.
  • His quirk is also not considered an ability that helps in Hero Work, hence he was enlisted in the General Course instead of the Hero Course.

He held a grudge against those with quirks associated with Hero Work because of the lifelong discrimination he faced. However, facing Midoriya and later being recruited by Aizawa, his outlook changed and he has made considerable character development. My Hero Academia is a story of anyone being a Hero, and if Midoriya has played this part perfectly, Shinso could as well.

His growth and circumstances make him a very exciting and mysterious protagonist, one whom fans are eager to know more about.

Levi Ackerman

I don’t think I have to explain why the favorite character of the entire Attack on Titan community and the Anime community has made it to the list. Levi is a character of integrity and depth. Although we have received episodes exploring his past, it is by no means comparable to the potential he holds as a Main Character.

After the main trio, Erwin and he were at the forefront of the entire plot. This makes the story from their perspective equally exciting and thrilling, more so because they have been exploring the world beyond the walls for far more years than Eren. A story from Levi’s perspective would be filled with a lot of intense interactions and fighting scenes, something every Attack on Titan fan would agree to watch.

Oikawa Tohru

Right after our energetic Chibi of protagonist Hinata, Oikawa is the next best character for Haikyuu to be based on. This is mainly because:

  • He is the senior and role model of Kageyama, the deuteragonist of the show.
  • He has intense moments and his journey from a plateaued player to greatness will be one heck of a ride.
  • He goes on to become a beach volleyball partner with Hinata, which indicates the tremendous story weight of his character.

There is no doubt that Oikawa is as charismatic as a protagonist needs to be, adding on to that his struggle as he reached his limits and broke through them, is something a protagonist would go through and shine as he overcomes it.

Hayakawa Aki

Another character on the list of “I don’t think I need to explain why he is here” characters. Aki is the deuteragonist of the show “Chainsaw Man” and an integral part of the mission against the Gun Devil.

  • While the show is carried on with the nonchalant behavior of Denji, Aki’s constant efforts to not have the protagonist of the show die is what makes the fans love him so much.
  • Paired with his traumatic past, his demeanor is a sure hit for us fans.

He has a different perspective than the main protagonist and is ready to sacrifice his aspirations just to stay close to his loved ones. This quality makes him an unconventional lead but a very promising protagonist. Having Denji on the dumb and cheerful protagonist spectrum, a show with Aki on the smart and cool protagonist spectrum will be a sight to behold.

Gohan

If wasted potential was a character, it is Gohan. The biggest beef Dragon Ball fans have with the series is that the Protagonist position was not passed down to Gohan after Z. And to be very fair about it, they are right. He was the strongest among the Z fighters and was the one who made it to Super Saiyan 2.

This absolute chad defeated Cell when he was just 11 years old, if that does not scream main character, I don’t know what will. He has the highest potential to surpass his father, Goku – the current protagonist, and has already embarked on a journey to find his version of strength. This was the perfect time for the series to shift visions. Alas, Goku reigned supremed.

Conclusion

These characters have untold potential to become the narrative point of the series and it would be amazing to find them getting their own show. This list is subjective and not complete, hence, do let us know what other characters should have made this list by commenting down below!!
