Sun God Nika

The Gear 5 reveal has been one of the most colossal and glorious events in the history of One Piece. The anime staff built up the hype with teasers and trailers. Pushing many fans to catch up with One Piece within a short period to be able to witness the grand reveal with the rest of the world.

Although all the other power-ups have been quite magnificent on their own, Gear 5 rose to a different level altogether. Can Luffy’s next power-up surpass the sublimity of Gear 5 or was it so majestic because it was Luffy’s final power-up? Let’s find out!

One Piece Manga: How strong is Luffy at present?

With Gear 5, Luffy has reached new and unimaginable heights. He can manipulate natural elements and turn them into rubber, he’s free from the laws of physics to a great extent. He can use all three forms of Haki. He’s able to take on the legends of his world including the emperors and the admirals.

With all of that Luffy has gotten considerably strong, strong enough to rise to the heights of an emperor. But is it the limit for Luffy? Can he defeat the likes of Blackbeard and Shanks with his current strength (if the Evil Shanks Theories hold true)?

Is Gear 5 Luffy’s final power-up? How much stronger will he get?

One Piece story has a hidden side: What have we not seen?

Gear 5 was the awakening of the Human Human fruit. It’s safe to assume that Gear 5 is the final stage and gear of his Devil Fruit powers. However, Luffy needs some experience with utilizing the full potential of Gear 5. But even then he probably won’t be able to defeat the strongest pirates of his world. As his supposed final opponent Black Beard is a wielder of multiple Devil Fruits. To be able to face him, Luffy needs to get much stronger.

If you’re struggling to rank Luffy and Blackbeard on your power scale, let us help you out with the first edition of the Spiel Anime Newsletter. It delves into the specifics of Blackbeard’s powers in an informatively fun manner. Additionally, there are a lot of different topics that have been covered in the newsletter since then, as it comes out twice every week.

This is where Haki comes into play. At present, he can use Armament and Observational Haki with brilliant efficiency as a result of his training with Katakuri. He hasn’t yet achieved the same level of mastery in Conqueror’s Haki. We know that the use of Conqueror’s Haki can significantly weaken an opponent. This became evident during Shanks’ appearance in Wano and his meeting with Whitebeard pre-time skip.

What does the future look like?

From what we know, the next destination for the Strawhats is Elbaph. The last time Shanks made an appearance, he was also present on the Island of Giants. Now that Luffy is on the same level as Shanks, at least in a titular sense, it might be time for him to return the hat. There’s also no one better to train Luffy with the know-how of Conqueror’s Haki.

Up till now, a meeting with Shanks has seemed like a reality from the distant future. At the same time, the recent developments in the manga have brought all the distant realities closer to us than ever before. So maybe next up on the list, is the most awaited meeting between Luffy and Shanks.

From a few attacks with silly titles (Gomu Gomu no Pistol) to Gear 5th, Luffy has come a long way. The complete dynamics of his Devil Fruit have been changed. While Gear 5 is the limit to the powers of the Devil Fruit, it’s hard to restrain the man who’ll become the King of Pirates.
